Antigua Cultural Walking Tour Half Day
Today you will take pleasure in a trip through the towns around La Antigua Guatemala, where you will discover their history through old structures, live culture, and the unparalleled landscape.
On this cultural trip, you will visit: San Juan El Obispo (The very first archbishop in Guatemala established by Francisco Marroquín), San Pedro Las Huertas, Ciudad Vieja (house of Guatemala's previous 2nd capital, which was buried by a landslide caused by an earthquake in 1541), Experimental Organic Macadamia Farm and Santiago Zamora females' cooperative
The Santiago Zamora cooperative is a ladies' association primarily concentrating on revealing travelers their everyday activities in their homes. The presentation shows the local fabrics; you will discover how to form the threads up until usage the backstrap loom and get the last fabric. Discover how to do a cup of coffee from the seed to the cup.
Dance regional music with the ladies. In the end, delight in outstanding regional food, "pepian" made from lots of spices, and include pork, chicken, or beef.
The afternoon cultural Walking Tour in Antigua is a journey through time and history, going to ruins, markets, churches, and museums; in this city, the colonial times' legends and stories are still present together with the old paved streets.
In this journey, you will visit: La Merced Church, Convent Las Capuchinas, Saint Joseph Cathedral, Central Park, Craft Market & Chocolate Museum
Antigua - Chichicastenango market - Lake Atitlan (Thursday and Sunday).
After breakfast, Chichicastenango (2.5 hours) will delight in the colored market, where the fragrance of incense and people's mysticism guarantees a distinct environment, bargaining of costs, and a church with blended Mayan and Catholic customs.
This is a market that comes to life every Thursday and Sunday as one of the ancient trade customs of the Guatemalan highlands, which now thrills the visitors; likewise, check out the regional cemetery and a craft factory.
After checking out, transfer to your hotel in Lake Atitlan (1 hour).

Lake Atitlan
Today, you will take a scenic boat trip throughout Lake Atitlan (30min) to San Juan La Laguna's town, where you can go to the ladies' fabric cooperative to see hand weaving and the natural dyeing procedure.
Check out the studios/homes of the famous naïf painters and after that continue to Santiago's town.
You will continue the trip to the town visiting the Maya God Maximon, and find out about the fabrics, spiritualism, and beliefs of the Tz'utujil Maya.
After the visit, you will be transferred back to your hotel.
Lake Atitlan – Iximche - Antigua
In the early morning, check out to Iximche in Tecpán, Iximché was a Maya Cakchiquel site founded in 1463, less than a century before the Spaniards' arrival played a definitive role in the Spanish conquest of this area of Guatemala.
Have lunch at some of the regional dining establishments in Tecpán and continue to La Antigua Guatemala.
